Health kick mindset but still needing a treat? There is a reason as to why protein balls are all the fashion at the moment. They really are easy, full of nutrients, low cost and every bit snack worthy.

Dark Chocolate Protein Balls

Ingredients

  • 4 dark chocolate covered dates (I used ones from DattelBär)

  • 2 tbsp flax seeds

  • 2 tbsp shredded coconut

  • 1/2 cup raw cashews

  • 1/4 tsp sea salt

  • 3 plain dates

  • 3 tbsp protein powder

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/2 cup canola oil

Method

In a food processor or high speed blender, blitz the flax seeds, shredded coconut, cashews, salt and dates. Pulse until all ingredients become a course but fine grain. Add the remaining ingredients (protein powder, cinnamon, oil) and pulse until a sort of wet sand forms.

Form into balls (one tablespoon per ball is what I normally measure by) by clumping the mix together then rolling with all palms. Place onto a plate. Repeat until all the mix is used.

Refrigerate for 20-30 minutes minimum but ideally one hour. As an optional step, place 2 tbsp of shredded coconut onto a plate and roll the refrigerated balls around until the surface is evenly coated. Place on a serving platter and enjoy.
